Stress, a Health Problem

For a long time, there has been a notion about what stress is, but few people have a real sense of the impact that stress can have on health. Today, many doctors in different areas of health, such as dentist in Tijuana, have witnessed that, indeed, constant stress can not only affect people’s moods but has a direct effect on certain parts of the body. In this article, we will mention some characteristics of this state and how it can harm the health of individuals.

Different types of stress

Although stress is indeed a state, it is essential to keep in mind that there are different types of this problem, so it is necessary to know each one of them to see the damage it can cause and how we can identify it.

Adaptive stress

Firstly, stress is a natural process that can be activated for different reasons, which can be directed towards actions and challenges. For example, a backlog of work is one of the most common causes of stress. In this process, where the body presents different changes, specific alerts arise that can help us identify when this state is present, such as poor sleep, loss of appetite, recurring illnesses, anxiety, among other things. It is known as adaptive because this state, as the word says, adapts to the person’s lifestyle.

Detached stress

Following the same effects as the previous one, the big difference between these two is that this type of stress is considered chronic since the effects last much longer, and it takes a little more work to get rid of the symptoms. In other words, stress no longer adapts to the lifestyle, but now takes over.

Acute stress

To know if we are in this type of stress, it is essential to identify the phases of this type of state. First, the activation stage begins, where little by little, the first symptoms of stress appear. It is at this point where the body starts to feel a bit tired and where specific symptoms may arise, which will only need to pass from the moment of stress to disappear later.

Chronic stress

The big difference between acute stress is that chronic stress has many more phases; it is no longer just the activation stage, but now there is resistance, and recovery is usually much longer and more delayed. When an individual already presents this level of the state, it will be challenging to get rid of the symptoms, which will require professional support so that the individual can put an end to the physical and mental exhaustion that can occur.

Reasons why stress can occur

Economic problems – When a person has problems with the economy, they are likely to enter a phase of stress which may be lost when they find financial stability.

Bad Relationships – When we refer to relationships, we are not only talking about loving ones but also about family members, friends, and the very people who work in our area of work.

Workload – Stress can occur when a person is overworked, so it is essential always to have a balance of activities.

The truth is that the body is not designed to withstand that much stress, so if you do not act immediately, there can be severe damage to the body. At the moment of presenting any symptom of this state, it is essential to go to a specialist.
